It was as a 12-year-old that I first saw Star Wars and was swept up in the fantasy and adventure of the film. I had to have toys, games, figures, t-shirts and other paraphernalia. My fandom didn’t reach the dizzy heights of the author’s of The Star Wars Vault, but I am glad of their dedication. In this compendium of Star Wars memorabilia, I was taken back to a time of innocent pleasures and naïve marketing.
Truly the seventies were to Gen X what the fifties are to the baby boomers.
The Star Wars Vault, published to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars, offers fans a treasure trove of never-seen-before letters, photographs and other material associated with each film. Two audio CDs contain radio ads, cast interviews and the complete soundtrack.
This collection is an awesome achievement, and is a fitting and remarkable homage to the phenomenon that has become the Star Wars franchise. The story of the conception and making of the original movie make this book worthwhile. Enjoy a trip down memory lane.
